Each January, near the anniversary of the court decision of Roe v. Wade, a public march is assembled in downtown South Bend. More than a thousand participants march with signs and slogans and attract considerable media attention to the abortion problem in South Bend. A rally is held for the participants and other interested attendees prior to the march. Several effective, impassioned speakers (including favorable candidates for office) add their support to the demonstration. St. Anthony’s Respect for Life Committee is proud to recommend and support this program.
For 40 days from late September to early November a presence is held near a St. Joseph County abortion facility as part of a nationwide campaign. Church groups of many faiths from Michiana participate. Parish support for this effort is coordinated by the Respect for Life committee.
