Those who have not received the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation) in the Catholic Church can enter the process called the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA, formerly called RCIA). This process prepares men and women, through the work of God's grace, to receive the Sacraments of Initiation and enter into full communion wit the Catholic Church. Those in OCIA learn about the Catholic faith and deepen their own spiritual lives as they prepare to join the Church community.
God, in his love, established the Church as a way to continue to be with his people: "I am with you always, even until the end of the age." OCIA gives you a chance to ask questions about things like: What is the purpose of life? How can I learn to pray? What steps do I need to take to become Catholic? Why does the Church teach certain things?
The OCIA process involves learning what the Church teaches, forming bonds with the Church community, and deepening one's own relationship with God. Those in OCIA will meet weekly to learn and pray together. Meetings begin in mid-September. The Sacraments of Initiation are celebrated at the Easter Vigil (April 19, 2025), and meetings will continue until May.
If you are interested in participating in OCIA please fill out this form. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact the Director of Faith Formation, Fernando Garcia, at [email protected].
