We are excited to welcome Fr. Michael Shami as our new priest in residence! Fr. Michael was ordained a priest for the Maronite Eparchy of Our Lady of Lebanon of Los Angeles on May 2, 2020 by Bishop Elias A. Zaidan. He currently serves as the Director of Liturgy and the Administrator of the Bl. Massabki Martyrs Mission in South Bend. He is a PhD student at Notre Dame in Liturgical Studies where he focuses on Early Syriac patristic texts and funerary liturgies. He graduated from NYU with a BA in history and philosophy. He attended seminary at the Pontifical North American College in Rome and received an STB from the Pontifical Gregorian University. Later, while in residence at the Maronite College, he obtained an SEOL (license) in liturgy from the Pontifical Oriental Institute.
Fr. Michael is the youngest of four children. Outside academia, he enjoys the simpler activities of life - running, cooking, gardening, and art.
