Over the Christmas break we had a lot of work going on in the parish. Inside the school we hung up the new San Damiano Crosses in every room, new carpet was installed in 3 classrooms (with six more slated for spring break), we also had a new fire system installed (so we are now up to date with fire code and safety), and we had our pre-school’s water system readied for state standards. As our school building is aging, we need to prepare for upgrades.
Two important updates that are coming this summer will be our new school roof. We did receive some Annual Bishop’s Appeal Money last year, and I am hopeful we qualify for more this year. And another concern that we are watching is our school boiler, as it is the original from the 1950’s and will need to be replaced very soon! At the parish office, in late November, we had a ceiling come crashing down; luckily no one was hurt. It is now fixed, and the walls repainted.
As you will notice in this week’s stewardship results, we are staying steady at this time, but we must remain consistent and prudent as we move forward. An example of the progress we are seeing is last year at this time our school was running at a deficit of $150, 503. We are now at a surplus of $29,437, but we must continue to be prudent and pray nothing breaks.
Thank you again for your generosity, as we continue to stay practical and vigilant.
