Join us in celebrating the Feast of Corpus Christi (the Body and Blood of Christ) this Sunday, June 11th, as we host a Eucharistic procession around the Parish and School campus. Such processions, originating at the decree of Pope Urban IV in 1264, served to increase devotion to the Holy Eucharist at a time when superstition was high and devotion low. Throughout the Church's history such processions have acted as a sign of devotion and means of offering worthy praise to our Lord who is truly present in this Blessed Sacrament, the source and summit of the Catholic Faith.
We will begin our procession immediately following the 10:30am Mass and will walk the approximately 1/4 mile perimeter of our campus. All are welcome and encouraged to participate. Even if you are unable to walk with us, seating will be available outside in the front of the church’s lawn facing Jefferson Boulevard. On the procession we will pray the Litany of the Most Blessed Sacrament and sing Eucharistic hymns together before returning to the church for Solemn Benediction and the beginning of our 40 hours of Adoration leading up to the Jubilee of St. Anthony de Padua on Tuesday, June 13th.
