I just wanted to share with you a little bit of information on a national debate that’s going on right now about the Eucharist. Interestingly, our Bishop Rhoades finds himself at the center of this debate since he serves as head of the Doctrine Committee.
As you might know, devotion to the Most Holy Eucharist is in decline among Catholics as a result of our cultural decay and such a decline has been accelerated by Covid. In response to this, the bishops of the Church have decided they'd like to publish a document reaffirming the importance and centrality of the Holy Eucharist in the lives of the faithful. One item the document will discuss is that our reception of the Holy Eucharist should be lived out in our daily lives, and those who do not live this out should abstain from receiving the Holy Eucharist.
Although this has been the continual teaching of the Church for 2000 years, reaffirming this teaching has become politicized due to the fact that we have a Catholic president who supports Roe versus Wade. Please take a few minutes to watch
this interview of Bishop Rhoades on EWTN if you would like to understand this controversy better. Lastly, please continue to pray for the bishop as he works to shepherd the Church.
Thank you very much, and God's blessings upon you!
