When fall hits, along with pumpkin spice everything, we see the dollar aisle in Target stuffed with cute, autumnally gilded things that say "Grateful" or "Thankful." From lattes to shirts, pillows, mugs, napkins, banners, socks, and more, more, more, September through November has become associated with giving thanks.
It's a wonderful sentiment, but why are we really giving all this thanks? And for what?
This month, we invite you to reconsider the idea of thankfulness by focusing on the very origin of offering thanks: the Eucharist.
Why the Eucharist? Because Eucharist (
eukharistía) means
thanksgiving. What?! Yep. Let that sink in for a minute...
Eucharist means thanksgiving.
Could that maybe change the way you see Mass? What might that mean for you when you receive Holy Communion?
All month we'll feature ways to help you think about this a little more, and we hope that you'll come to see the idea and act of giving thanks in a brand new light that could change your life for good, not just September-November.

This week, take a quick 20 minutes to listen to this podcast episode from
Dr. Edward Sri, who asks us to consider: Do we really see a difference in our lives every time we receive Jesus in Holy Communion?
